Top Nigerian Film stars led by their Leader, Emeka Ike on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye and influenced him into partnering with them on their laudable peace initiative tagged Voice of Change Nigeria Foundation aimed at engendering peace in the country.
Emeka Ike the Leader of the group and Speaker as he is called conferred the Peace Ambassador honour to the Director General of the NSC and believed that he could use his good office to help propagate Peace in the country through sports since sports are youth oriented.
“In sports when there is Fair Play both viewers and commentators will not complain. That is the same thing we want in politics. We want fair play, good governance and justice in the country. In doing this we decided to consult with all the stakeholders including all the players and athletes in the Nigerian politics. We are moving across all the regions of the country to preach peace to all stakeholders, all the political parties, parastatals including sports and others and we want them to know that peace must reign at all cost in Nigeria.
“We want them to know that they can play their politics but not to the detriment of our existence as a peace loving nation. Nigeria peaceful co-existence must not be truncated for a political desire. Should there be any disintegration right now Nigerians will suffer. Nigerians will have problems in all facet.
“Any country, God forbid, we go to will ask us to go back to our country no matter how rich you are. So the only country we have is our country Nigeria. What we are preaching here is that whatever we do lets have peace in Nigeria”, Ike declared.
The DG of the NSC however embraced the peace initiatives of the Voice of Change Nigeria Foundation who preaches peace and said that the initiative is in tandem with what the National Sports Commission preaches which is Fair Play.
“Yes the Foundation came to preach Peace in our Country and I rightly belief in the message they preach and I also support the idea that there must be peace in our country. We all want peace. A country devoid of peace means there won’t be any development there. Without peace there can’t be progress.
We want Nigeria to move forward and we are talking of transformation which can only work in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
